About me

I moved around growing up, which may have had more of an impact on me than I realized. Once I hit adulthood, I kept the relocation-pattern going.

I lived in Arizona, where I learned that the teddy bear cholla is not cuddly and that monsoons in Phoenix are a real thing.

I lived in northern California, where I learned never to drive into San Francisco (take Bay Area Rapid Transit - BART - always. Always.), earned a doctorate, met my husband, and finally tried yoga.

I lived in New Zealand, where I saw some of the most beautiful terrain in the world and got homesick for crispy bacon.

I lived in southern California, where I discovered that I loved teaching in academia but hated driving anywhere at anytime (except Sunday through Thursday, between 2:00am and 4:00am) in Los Angeles.

I now live in Texas. So far, I’ve discovered that baseball-sized hail exists, the people really are the kindest, and, happily, the mountains are only a day and a half’s drive away.
